I updated the calendar through Dress Week. I do not have the performances on the calendar yet, but I will soon. There are also some choreography rehearsals that still need to be determined. They are during tech/dress week, and you can assume they will likely be all cast. This leads me to an important change that some Drama Club veterans may not be used to.
The first two weeks on the stage will not be all cast. We have a lot of students participating, which I love, but it does make it hard to manage. You might have noticed that I did not make the ensemble numbers all cast. Our stage won’t fit everyone, so I had to do some strategic placement when casting each number. I tried to plan the scenes we would work on each day to manage the number of students during rehearsals and ensure no one is sitting around with nothing to do for an entire rehearsal. It is essential that you not only read the title of the calendar event but also the descriptions. They should tell you exactly which rehearsals you need to attend. You must know which rehearsal you belong at so you can be at every rehearsal you are called to!
Parents, the calendar descriptions correspond to the scene breakdown, which can be found in Google Classroom. Alternatively, you can email me, and I will share it. The best way to think of the breakdown is to pay attention to the scene in which the song is listed. If your character or character type (woodland creature, storybook character, etc) is listed next to the scene, you are probably in the song too. At this point, your child should also know what scenes and songs they are in. But if anyone is confused, please ask!
Costumes
People have asked me about costumes. I am late in contacting the rental shop that we have used in the past. I will try to call them this week and find out if they can costume part of the show. We do have a costume collection from which we can pull. I’m trying to find an upcoming Thursday when the hall isn’t being used to go through things. Some characters will have to costume themselves. Here is a very broad breakdown of what I am planning so far. More updates coming soon.
- Shrek – TBD
- The Fionas – TBD (we have a parent who offered to make costumes, but I’m not sure if she is willing to make three Fiona costumes)
- Black dance shoes (jazz or ballet)
- Donkey – TBD
- Lord Farquaad – TBD
- Guards – Partially costumed by cast members. Drama Club does have tunics that should work. Pants will probably need to be supplied by you. Colors TBD
- Black dance shoes (jazz are preferred)
- Ogre Family – Partially costumed by cast members. Drama Club does have dresses and tunics that should work.
- Black dance shoes (jazz or ballet)
- Storytellers – TBD (either drama club or costume house)
- Fairy Tale Creatures – TBD (either student-supplied or costume house)
- Dragon – TBD
- Woodland Creatures – supplied by the cast member. We discussed the animals that each cast member would be. To make the costume, find the following:
- leggings and a long-sleeved t-shirt in the color of their choice for the animal.
- Add ears, tails, and makeup to complete the costume.
- Shoes should be dance shoes (jazz or ballet) in a color close to your animal color.
- Dulocians—TBD (I’m hoping the costume house has done Shrek before; if not, we will get creative and put together some amazing costumes!)
- Black dance shoes (jazz or ballet)
As always, if you have questions please email me and I will do my best to answer them.
Hi Natalie, Hope you had a fun and restful break. When time permits, please share the rehearsal calendar (or link) with me. Many thanks. Kim

Hi Kim, the calendar is on this website. Are you asking for me to share the scene breakdown?
